A young man who was tragically killed when his stepfather's ute exploded in flames has been remembered as a & # 39; gentle giant & # 39 ;.
Brandon Steffensen, 22, from Cairns, was killed on August 20 in anticipation of his stepfather when the commercial vehicle suddenly caught fire on Del Manso Crescent, in Edmonton.
While Mr. Steffensen's neighbors and stepfather were walking forward to help him with a second explosion, every rescue attempt was impossible Cairns Post reported.
Family friend Sarah Magee, who has known Mr. Steffensen since he was five years old, said the family was destroyed.
She described Mr. Steffensen as loving and always ready to make his younger brothers and sisters smile by bringing them chocolate and swearing to secrecy.
& # 39; He was our kind giant, & # 39; she said.
Brandon Steffensen, 22, from Cairns, was killed on August 20 awaiting his stepfather when the commercial vehicle suddenly caught fire at Del Manso Crescent, in Edmonton.
& # 39; He would do anything for everyone. He was extremely close to his mother. He was a typical 22-year-old who loved being with his family. He just helped his stepfather help where he could. & # 39;
A neighbor, Nicole Stroud, told the publication that she heard a loud bang and shout before she walked into the street.
By the time they and Mr. Steffensen's stepfather arrived, a second explosion rocked the car.

& # 39; Another lady told me that there was someone there (the car) and I said & # 39; & # 39; oh my goodness, why don't we get blankets and try to take them out & # 39; & # 39; and then it hit again, & # 39; she said.
Another family friend, Bernadette Young, founded one GoFundMe for the destroyed family of Mr Steffensen to cover his funeral expenses.
& # 39; I just want to help my friend and her small family bury their dear son, with the dignity he deserves, & # 39; Mrs. Young wrote.
& # 39; This woman raised a beautiful boy who struggled through life with a quiet dignity, always looking for his mother and little brother and sister.
& # 39; He died so suddenly that we are all struggling to master it, I can't begin to think what it is like for them. & # 39;
She said the friendly family would never think about lending a hand to the public, but she was more than happy to do it for them and give the community a chance to support them.
& # 39; Brandon's stepfather, who was on the scene, suffered such a great trauma, he also needs all our help and love, & she said.
& # 39; My girlfriend has not had an easy life and yet she is the most loving and loving person she deserves so much better than this.
& # 39; So let's alleviate some of the fear and raise a fund for them. & # 39;
The GoFundMe campaign has set the goal at $ 20,000 and has already generated $ 5,335.
The Queensland police are still investigating the cause of the explosion and will prepare a report for the coroner.
