Pictured: Inside Gordon Ramsay’s £13m London pub taken over by squatters who left glasses on the floor

A group of squatters who took over one of Gordon Ramsay’s pubs in London have left a shocking mess inside the property.

Photographs taken from inside the York and Albany pub in Regents Park show beer cans scattered on the dusty floor alongside pint glasses.

The pub and furniture were also littered with items such as tobacco, plug sockets, empty water bottles and wine glasses. A pair of crutches can also be seen, believed to belong to one of the six squatters who entered the property.

The squatters broke into the building as the professional chef planned to hand over the multimillion-dollar lease to new partners. It is currently temporarily closed.

It is understood the group used kitchen appliances to barricade themselves inside the pub and glued the locks shut. The squatters also sleep inside the building, occupying bedrooms and several sofas.

Gordon Ramsay has reportedly become enraged after squatters took over one of his pubs in London.

They have even posted a sign on the door threatening legal action against anyone who tries to expel them.

Gordon is believed to have contacted police last week, but so far they have been unable to remove the squatters from the property.

A source told The Sun: “The pub was temporarily closed while he was finalizing a new lease, and during this handover period a gang of professional squatters somehow evaded all security and CCTV cameras. television, and they entered.

“Now they have locked themselves in the building and are slowly taking over the place, leaving their shit everywhere and blatantly telling the locals that this is now their home.”

‘Some crash on the sofas, but others have taken over the nice bedrooms. God knows the damage and the dirt.

The source added that Gordon has been trying to get an eviction notice since he called the police.

One squatter refused to comment when approached by The Sun, with the publication reporting that a note on the pub’s door insists they can stay there because it is a “non-residential building”.

The Metropolitan Police told MailOnline: ‘Police were informed of squatters at a disused property on Parkway, Regent’s Park, NW1 on Wednesday 10 April.

“This is a civil matter and that is why the police did not respond to the property.”

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Ramsay for further comment.

Ramsay lost a court battle in 2015 over his personal liability for the £640,000 rent of the business.

The chef’s ‘kitchen nightmare’ arose from a bitter dispute with his father-in-law Christopher Hutcheson, who was chief executive of his business until he was forced to resign in 2010.

Film director and actor Gary Love purchased the freehold of the former inn from the Crown Estate in 2007.

After Ramsay bought out the lease, he converted the space into a boutique hotel and restaurant.

However, the restaurant has had problems on TripAdvisor. Last week, a scathing review appeared on the site, criticizing what it claimed was a small steak and “overly salty” chips for £23.

The one-star review was titled “Gordon is no Heston”, in reference to his rival Heston Blumenthal.

The Mail On Sunday reported in 2020 that the pub had racked up losses totaling £15 million since opening in 2008.

Records also reveal that the establishment suffered losses of more than £550,000 in just one year, up to the end of August 2019.
