These are the hero parents who are said to have pulled their teenage daughter to safety before a car hit them on Boxing Day, tragically killing them both.

Anthony Hogg and his wife Georgina Hogg-Moore died after the crash on December 26 on Blanchardstown Road North, west Dublin, while they were walking near Blanchardstown shopping center at around 5.45pm.

Mrs Hogg-Moore, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr Hogg, 40, died as a result of his injuries in hospital. Four people were involved in the accident, but no other injuries were reported.

A man in his 40s has since been arrested after turning up at the local police station on the same night as the couple’s deaths.

The couple leaves behind two children, one of whom was with them at the time of the accident. She was reportedly hit by a rearview mirror and suffered some bruising.

The couple’s niece, Kirstie Moore, also pleaded online, describing the couple as having “the most genuine hearts and souls” and adding that her family had “no words to describe” how they felt.

Mrs Hogg-Moore’s cousin Carly Gray told the Irish Sun that “the tragedy has torn (her) family apart” and added that the couple were “loved beyond measure”.

“They were going out to dinner and they took their lives, they took it from all of us,” he said.

In a statement issued on Friday, Gardaí confirmed that a man had been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Investigating Gardaí arrested a man (aged in his 40s) in connection with this incident yesterday afternoon, Thursday 26 December 2024,” the statement read. ‘He is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.

“Garda forensic collision investigators have completed a technical examination of the scene and the road has now reopened.

‘Gardaí continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision to contact them.

‘Any road user or pedestrian who was in the vicinity of Blanchardstown Road North, between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Thursday 26 December 2024, and has camera footage (including dash cam ) must make them available for Gardaí investigation.
