The King and Queen of Denmark put on a majestic display in a series of newly published portraits.

Following the succession to the throne in January, the Danish royal house has published the first official gala portraits of Frederik, 55, and Mary, 52, which will hang on the walls of the cabins.

The image, taken by photographer Steen Evald in the royal reception room at Christiansborg Palace, showed Mary looking elegant in a green dress.

Mary and Frederik wore the Order of the Elephant on their chains, an order of chivalry and Denmark’s highest honor.

Maria also used Frederik’s new portrait order, marking the first time the public has seen the order, which is reserved for female members of the Royal Family.

As a complement, the mother of four children wore the historic emerald parure, which is only worn by queens and is part of the crown jewels.

The tiara’s sparkling emerald stones perfectly complemented Mary’s bottle green dress.

The Queen kept her makeup glamorous with dark smoky eyes and styled her brunette tresses in an updo.

Meanwhile, Frederik appeared in high spirits as he looked towards the camera in a formal outfit, complete with white gloves.

Taking to Instagram to reveal the new portraits, the Danish royal house said: “In connection with the succession to the throne on 14 January 2024, the first official gala portrait of Their Majesties the King and Queen is now published.

‘The portrait shows Their Majesties in full regalia with the Order of the Chained Elephant, and can henceforth be seen hanging, among other places, in state institutions, including Danish embassies and consulates around the world and on Danish ships.

‘The gala portrait was taken by photographer Steen Evald in the Green Room of the Royal Reception Rooms at Christiansborg Palace.

It comes after Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova spoke out for the first time since she went into hiding following allegations of an affair with Federico X last month.

The 47-year-old took to Instagram to thank the people who “cared about her over the last year and showed her “love and support.”

The TV star was forced to deny “malicious rumours” that she had had an affair with the now king of Denmark after the couple were pictured together on a night out in Madrid in November.

Breaking her silence with a selfie alongside her adorable dog, she wrote: ‘Hello everyone! Here I am back! I want to thank all the people who have cared about me this last year, those who have understood my absence and my silence, and those who have sent me messages of love and support.’

‘You have no idea how much that meant to me… Thank you so much!

‘It has been a few months in which I needed peace and tranquility, but I am already doing the best I can to little by little be able to return to my normal life and fulfill my work commitments.

‘Once again, thank you a million! Taj and I leave you our best smile with some photos of our walk this afternoon and we wish you all a very good night.”

It comes as Genoveva has been chosen to appear on a Spanish reality show, El Desafío 5.

Her friends have also spoken to Spanish media, saying that she has been “traveling constantly on medical recommendation” to “avoid the stress of media pressures.”

The Royal Yacht Dannebrog has served as a cruise ship for the Danish royal family since May 1932 and has traveled more than 800,000 miles.

The luxury yacht welcomes the Royal Family both on their private holidays and during their official engagements abroad.

In the royal compartment of the yacht there are still furniture and accessories from 1879 that were on board the family’s previous yacht.

Frederik and Mary are keen sailors and took part in a yacht regatta in Sydney in December 2017 when they visited the Queen’s hometown for Christmas.

In August 2022, the couple competed against each other in a sailing ‘Royal Race’ at the Rockwool Danish Sailing Grand Prix, in which Mary narrowly beat her husband.
