A US-led invasion of Iraq began on March 20, 2003, with a force of 150,000 US troops, followed in numbers by British troops and Australian and Polish soldiers.

Millions of protesters in countries around the world were not convinced the war was justified and poured into the streets of their cities to condemn what they said was an “unjust, unlawful” war.
