Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters flooded the streets of New York as part of a rowdy demonstration on International Women’s Day in which they stormed the Oculus near the World Trade Center.

Disturbing video from the event also shows an unconscious protester in the streets.

Footage taken on Friday shows an activist lying face down on the ground surrounded by police. It is unclear how he was knocked out.

In the background a woman can be heard shouting, “Get an ambulance, screw the cops, she’s passed out” as the police try to get a response from her limp body.

The footage sparked condemnation from former gubernatorial candidate and actress Cynthia Nixon, after it was suggested police had knocked out the protester.

“This is completely despicable: the NYPD is more out of control than ever and when they get sued for this, New York City taxpayers will have to pay their multi-million dollar fine for money stolen from libraries and schools under the administration corruption of the mayor of New York City (Eric Adams)’.

There were warnings of disruptions on the N, Q, R, W, 4, 5, 6 and L trains by those who flocked to the protest, or by the protest itself.

The ‘Global Strike for Gaza’ began in Union Square before spreading to the city centre, and a later video shows protesters breaking into the Oculus shopping centre.

Footage shows protesters holding Palestinian flags shouting and cheering after they managed to enter the mall.

Once inside, they formed a drum circle and waved signs that read: ‘30,878 dead and Joe is eating ice cream’ in reference to the president nonchalantly slurping an ice cream cone while being questioned recently about the situation between Israel and Gaza.

The protest announcement came after the group caused widespread chaos in New York City on New Year’s Day this year when they ordered participants to flood JFK Terminal 4.

Online fliers for the protest appear to indicate that it is being held in conjunction with other pro-Palestinian groups: Decolonize This Place and Existence is Resistance.

“As the Zionist entity has used lies of sexual violence to legitimize the ongoing genocide in Gaza, while there is no accountability for the actual sexual violence that Palestinian women have experienced at the hands of occupation soldiers for decades,” they wrote.

The protesters ended their march in Zuccotti Park a few hours after starting it.

NYPD Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry showed up to observe the demonstration, but was quickly confronted, prompting police officers to form a protective barrier around him.
