Phillip Schofield has revealed the one thing he can’t live without as he announces his dramatic return to TV in a new survival show.
The former This Morning presenter, 62, secretly filmed a special three-part series for Channel 5, which saw him leave the comfort of his home for 10 days of introspection on a tropical island in the Indian Ocean.
And Phil really took on the natural world when he admitted that his only luxury item he took with him on the trip was a lip balm.
In a statement to promote the series, titled Phillip Schofield: Cast Away, Phil said: ‘This time it’s just me, no phone, no creature comforts, no crew and just lip balm as a luxury.
“I’m looking forward to exploring the island, trying to tie knots to secure my shelter and foraging for food and fending for myself in the wild… without help.”

Phil will discuss his bitter split from ITV and This Morning, shows he presented for 21 years, while managing to live on an island paradise off the coast of Madagascar.
He explained: ‘This is definitely a first for me and the only thing I felt compelled to do.
“I was drawn to it in many ways. I’ve had a lot of time recently to think about my life, what went right and what went wrong, but I’ve always had the safe embrace of my friends and family.”
The star joked: ‘Maybe I’m Robinson Crusoe, or maybe I’m just Tom Hank’s Wilson and I’m drifting off into the endless blue!’
The series will air over three nights from Monday, September 30 to Tuesday, October 1, in three 60-minute installments.
Follow Phillip as he is stranded for ten days and nine nights on a remote, unpopulated island off the coast of Madagascar.
Viewers will see the sacked presenter reflect on the emotional impact of his exile from mainstream television after news of his affair with a 20-year-old runner emerged on This Morning.
Schofield was reportedly given a handheld camera, body cameras and a sound package before being allowed to record his emotional week-and-a-half-long journey.

He told his followers: “Now you know how I spent the summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no crew.”
On Wednesday morning, the star posted photos on Instagram promoting the new show, telling her followers: “Now you know how I spent my summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no equipment.”

The return to television has been met with disdain by audiences, with one stating: “If this is designed to make people feel sorry for him, it will backfire. People were starting to forget about him and now they’re bringing him up again.”
One said: “It’s a disgrace. Totally shameless,” while another added: “How on earth is Phillip Schofield going to have a TV show? It’s a disgrace.”
Scott Bryan added: “I was quite surprised by the Phillip Schofield show, but then I remembered it’s Channel 5 so it’s not surprising.”
