According to a report, LIV Golf rebel Phil Mickelson has been quietly buying land in the San Diego area for decades.
The 52-year-old grew up in California, between San Diego and Scottsdale, Arizona, which makes him a regular in the area.
He bought his first home in Rancho Santa Fe for $6 million in 2001 before finally reselling it for a loss of $250,000 in 2015.
But the six-time winner has apparently intensified his interest in the neighborhood.
Mickelson has owned three other properties in the area, according to the New York Post.
LIV Golf rebel Phil Mickelson has quietly purchased land in the San Diego area

The 52-year-old grew up in California and bought his first home in Rancho Santa Fe in 2001.

The professional golfer has stepped up his interest in the area, racking up 21 acres of land
The first two of his purchases were in 2005 for a reported combined cost of $14.1 million.
They included a five-bedroom, six-bathroom residence occupying over 13,000 square feet on approximately six acres and a four-acre strip of land.
It would then rebound in the real estate market a few months later in December 2005.
This time he spent $3.4 million on another plot of land spanning four more acres.
Mickelson is believed to be slowly plotting to hoard the properties and land in the area to build his “dream resort”, which could be worth over $100 million.
In fact, the 2021 PGA Championship winner cares so much about this resort that he’s actively trying to buy his neighbors out of their homes.
In 2020, Mickelson focused on surrounding properties, although not all of them were for sale.
However, he wasn’t going to let any setbacks stop him and made an offer of a house they couldn’t accept.
He reportedly spent around $25 million on a four-bedroom, four-bathroom estate on 4.3 acres of land.
He then shelled out an additional $25 million for the adjacent 6.79-acre land, originally listed in 2021 for $12 million.
Rancho Santa Fe is described as “a prestigious and wealthy town” and is “renowned for its luxurious homes, breathtaking scenery and a community that exudes elegance and exclusivity,” according to a local real estate site.

Mickelson jumped ship for LIV Golf last year for $200 million signing fee
Mickelson’s multi-million dollar compound is hardly going to dent his bank account.
The professional, reportedly already worth $875 million, joined LIV Golf last year for a signing fee of $200 million.
Mickelson has played in the controversial breakaway for the past year after he and fellow defectors were suspended from the PGA Tour for their moves.
However, they have apparently been welcomed back into the fold after the Tour announced on Tuesday that it would merge with the Saudi-backed series after a year of brutal feuds between the two sides sparked a civil war in the golf world.
