The average price of unleaded fuel in Sydney stands at 193.0 cents per litre, according to insurer NRMA.
Over the next week, that price will skyrocket to the “low 210 cents a litre,” a recent report revealed.
“Average regular unleaded prices increased 9.9 cents per liter last week from the end of the cycle,” the NRMA said.
“That should peak at around 210 cents per liter over the next five to seven days.”

Premium unleaded 95 and 98 fuels were expected to reach up to 227c and 234c respectively.
Meanwhile, the cost of diesel sits at 203.2c, a staggering 13c increase from last week.
LPG in Sydney is the only fuel type to have fallen, falling 0.3p to 98.3p across the city this week.
Fuel Check NSW, a state government fuel search app, has further revealed the stark reality for motorists in Harbor City.
According to government data, the average price of unleaded fuel shot up from the mid-180c mark in July.
The data further reveals the direction prices are headed, with the August average on track to hit the all-time high from last November.
Over the last 12 months, the average price of unleaded fuel stood at 183.7c; Currently, it sits at 199.8c per litre.
The gap between the lowest and highest fuel prices was also stark this week, with 53.7 cents separating the low of 173.2 cents.
Prices were mixed across the city, according to the data, except for a cluster of cheap deals, around 171c, in Ryde.
The situation, inflamed by changes in excise taxes on fuel and falls in production, was felt across the country this week.
In Melbourne, unleaded fuel reached 229.9 cents per litre, according to RACV fuel monitoring data.
Prices in Melbourne, like Sydney, varied wildly across the city, with unleaded petrol being offered as low as 175.9 pence on Thursday.

Motorists, witnessing the fuel increase of more than 200 cents a litre, told Nine on Thursday they’ve “never seen it this bad.”
‘When I saw how much it was, I stopped,’ said a motorist.
‘It’s screwed. I think I’ll walk,’ said another.
Another motorist said prices had been ‘up and up’ in recent days.
The NRMA’s advice for motorists is to use fuel check apps to make sure you get the best deal.
As for the other major cities, the situation this week was similarly grim, with unleaded prices at 188c in Brisbane.
In Hobart, the average price is 202 pence per litre, according to Fuel Check Tas, up from 199.2 pence last Friday.
Unleaded petrol averaged 200.5p/litre in Perth and around 198p/litre in Canberra.
Adelaide averaged 208c per liter and Darwin averaged 194c per litre.
