After his guest appearance on Hulu’s How I Met Your Father, Neil Patrick Harris and his family trumpeted to attend the opening night of his Broadway play Peter Pan Goes Wrong at Manhattan’s Ethel Barrymore Theater on Wednesday.
The New Mexico-born, 49-year-old — who went public in 2006 — was joined on the red carpet by his husband of eight years, David Burtka, and their 12-year-old twins, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace.
Pre-teen Neil donned a black suit and a frilly yellow floral dress respectively, while the 47-year-old chef-actor donned a black suit with loafers.
Harris — who was based on nanny Amy Komorowski — wore a chambray jacket over a gray striped button-down, black slacks, and matching shoes, chosen by designer Sam Spector.
The Uncoupled star hasn’t starred in a Broadway show since his Tony Award-winning role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the Belasco Theater back in 2015.

“(It’s) nice to be back,” gushed Neil Broadway world Wednesday.
“I am surrounded by some of the most talented people I have ever seen who deliver a level of comedy that is relentless and very physical, and I am in a very happy place.”
Harris admitted that he only had two days of rehearsal and one technical rehearsal in order to prepare for the role of Francis, the play-within-a-play narrator.
“My role is not a giant,” the former child star admitted.
But what I find about comedy of this caliber is that it’s very technical. It’s like dancing on multiple levels – things happen behind the scenes, costume changes, props that have to be in specific pockets, in specific places. From sitting in the audience and watching the chaos, it seems more spontaneous than it actually is.
Fans can catch Neil as Francis until April 30, but the slapstick comedy by global theater company Mischief, directed by Adam Megiddo, is set to run until July 9.
Peter Pan Goes Wrong premiered at London’s Pleasance Theater in 2013 and has spawned a UK tour, two successful shows on the West End, and a BBC One TV special.
Meanwhile, David — who began dating Harris in 2004 — Previews began Tuesday On the Boundary-Breaking Stage, the Off-Broadway revival of God of Carnage, which runs from April 27 to May 20 at Manhattan’s Row Theater.
