Rory Kennedy, sister of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said Monday that she is so afraid of former President Donald Trump being elected that she won't vote for her own brother.

Rory Kennedy, sister of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said Monday that she is so afraid of former President Donald Trump being elected that she won’t vote for her own brother.

In an interview with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, he said a second Trump term “will be catastrophic, honestly, not just for our country, but for the world.”

Kennedy – who was promoting his latest documentary series, The Synanon Solution – was among a group of family members who attended St. Patrick’s Day festivities at the White House and posed for a group photo with President Joe Biden in a show of support.

“You know, the truth is that I love my brother and it hurts me to be against him, but I am very worried about what is at stake in this election, and I am very worried about the polls that I am seeing. “It takes a lot more away from him. votes for Biden than for Trump,” said the documentary filmmaker.

“And I think this election is going to come down to a handful of votes in a handful of states, and I’m concerned that his campaign and his run for independent office will lead to Trump’s election,” he added.

RFK Jr. launched his campaign in April and said he would run against Biden in the Democratic primary, but when he didn’t get enough support to overtake the president, he announced in October that he would run as an independent in the general election.

Her sister told Mitchell, “I’m a big fan of President Biden.”

“I think he’s done a fantastic job and he doesn’t get the credit he deserves over the last four years in terms of the policies that he’s enacted and the changes that he’s made that I think have been enormously impactful and positive,” he said.

Still, Biden trails Trump in the polls.

The DailyMail.com/JL Partners March national poll shows Biden trailing Trump by four points (39 percent to 43 percent), with RFK Jr. absorbing 7 percent of the vote in the 2024 general election.

RFK Jr. currently hurts Biden the most, diverting 9 percent of voters who voted for the president in 2020, while just 5 percent of Trump supporters four years ago say they will choose the independent candidate.

Ipsos polls are more favorable to Biden, with RFK Jr. alienating supporters of the Democrat and Trump almost equally and in the long run it could be more detrimental to the former president due to the type of voter the independent attracts: the “Republican disaffected suburban moderate. ‘ Ipsos president Cliff Young told DailyMail.com last week.

Still, all signs point to the 2024 race being incredibly close between the major party candidates.

“So I think, frankly, the stakes couldn’t be higher,” Kennedy told Mitchell. “So, you know, I would love more than anything to sit on the sidelines in this case and not be in this position, but I don’t feel like I can do that.”

On Tuesday, RFK Jr. announced that his running mate would be Bay Area attorney and businesswoman Nicole Shanahan, 38, who is new to politics but not in the spotlight, having previously been married to Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

She denies a salacious Wall Street Journal report that said a date with Elon Musk broke up her marriage to Brin and ended the two billionaires’ friendship.

As Shanahan begins appearing with RFK Jr. on the campaign trail, the campaign continues to work to gain access to general election ballots across the country.

On Monday, RFK Jr.’s campaign announced that he had enough signatures to appear on the ballot in North Carolina, which could end up being a swing state due to the gubernatorial race.

Last week, Kennedy’s campaign went to war with Nevada after discovering that signatures already gathered might not count because Shanahan’s name was not included on the nomination petition.

The Nevada Secretary of State’s Office admitted that the campaign had received misinformation.

A spokesperson for RFK Jr. told DailyMail.com that the campaign plans to sue the state to ensure the signatures collected count.
