Chasten, a 30-year-old primary school teacher, shared his sloppy message for the mayor of South Bend, Indiana on Wednesday about their first date in 2015.
& # 39; Four years ago I drove to South Bend to date with this handsome guy I met. We drank a pint, watched a baseball game, held hands by the river, and saw fireworks bursting over our heads as we prepared to say goodbye. My god, we had no idea we had @PetteButtigieg, & he wrote.
He also tweeted a photo of that first date, the two smiled with beers, not knowing that they would marry a few years later.

Pete and Chasten met on the Hinge dating app in 2015 and made the decision in June 2018
Pete, 37, shared the message on his own Twitter account and added: & I still can't believe my luck. Thank you for a magical first date and everything that has since come. & # 39;
Pete and Chasten started their romance in the most millennial way possible and came together on the Hinge dating app. After talking, the couple had their first date during a baseball game in South Bend in the summer of 2015.
For the couple, one of the most magical moments of the date was the dazzling fireworks show, which they saw as the sign of the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
& # 39; Literally there was fireworks on our first date, & # 39; Chasten said in an interview with the New York Times. & # 39; It was a little ridiculous, I know, but I was addicted. & # 39;
The mayor of South Bend revealed that at the start of their relationship Chasten was reluctant to get involved with a politician
Chasten shared this Instagram post in June in honor of their one-year marriage. The two were married at St. James's Cathedral in South Bend

They moved in together towards the end of that year and announced their engagement in December 2017.
They tied the knot on June 16, 2018, during a private ceremony at St. James's Cathedral in South Bend.
The political couple has a large army of fans, not just for the mayor's work in Indiana, but also because they are an LGBTQ pair in the 2020 presidential race.
But Chasten was not always on board to date a politician.
& # 39; He [Chasten] was a bit skeptical about getting confused with a politician, and he asked, you know, "What does your future look like?" And I told him, & Buttigieg said earlier on the podcast LGBTQ & A.
& # 39; So he reminds me of that now, and we're talking about the crazy life we have, because I think none of us could have even guessed a year and a half ago that this was where life would take us, & # 39 ; he added.
According to a Tuesday survey, the mayor of South Bend has seen his number of national polls decrease in recent weeks.
He currently sits at 3 percent among Democratic primary voters, behind his colleague & # 39; s vice president Joe Biden, senator Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.
