A pet owner whose Jack Russell was beaten to death by a gang of teenagers has gotten a new dog from a nice stranger.

Patricia Pendergast’s dog, Mim, was killed by four teens between the ages of 14 and 16 on Tuesday in the front yard of her Riverview home in Ipswich, Queensland.

Mrs. Pengergast rushed out in the middle of the night to investigate after hearing the youngsters laugh, but found her seven-year-old dog lifeless on the floor.

The gruesome story set off shock waves through the community and prompted a fellow dog lover to offer Mrs. Pendergast a precious gift.

Anne Scott reached out to Ms. Pendergast and offered to re-place her Foxy Jack Russell named Missy to the grieving pet owner after hearing her tragic story.

“I love dogs so much and it would have been terrible for me if that happened,” Mrs. Scott recalled Courier mail.

Mrs. Scott had been in trouble with her grandson playing too aggressively with Missy.

“I thought Missy would love Patricia because she seemed like a dog lover,” she said.

Ms. Pendergast said she was incredibly grateful for Ms. Scott’s generous gift and that she could still come to terms with the loss of Mim.

“We’ll get through it, but it will take a while,” she said.

Mim’s ashes will be delivered to Ms. Pendergast this week by the RSPCA.

Riverview Neighborhood Watch said the group of teenagers ran down Diamond Street for the last time and may have gone up to the 7-Eleven in Dinmore.

“One carried a big pole,” the organization posted on their Facebook page.

They laughed as they ran. When the victim returned to her yard (after a short chase) she discovered that her dog had been beaten to death.

“It had head injuries equivalent to being hit with a pole multiple times and had suffered a very violent and painful death.”

Anger and disgust are now rife in the 3,000-strong community as news of the attack continues to spread.

‘This is nauseating. I can’t imagine what this poor dog went through and how sad his owner must be, ”said a Facebook user.

Another wrote: ‘It’s hard enough to lose a fur baby, but it’s heartbreaking to suffer such a cruel loss. I hope they get caught and punished severely. ‘

Police are still investigating the ugly incident, but no charges have been filed.

They urge anyone with information or CCTV to contact the police.

Talk about signs of budding serial killers! … May the psychopaths who committed this murder get jailed, ‘a Facebook user posted.

Another said, ‘What scares me even more about reading this is if they could do that to an innocent pup, what more could they do? And they are still there. ‘

“I really hope they get caught and severely punished,” added an angry resident.
