A woman has been charged with the murder of a girl more than 12 years ago in Queensland.

The charge comes after police went to a home in Redland Bay, 35 kilometers southeast of Brisbane, on September 2, 2011, and found a three-month-old child not breathing.

The girl was taken to the hospital, where she died four days later.

The death was investigated at the time without resolution.

Police received further information about the matter in January, restarting the investigation involving detectives from Bayside Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) and Crime and Intelligence Command’s Child Trauma Unit.

On Friday, a 30-year-old woman was arrested in the Kingston suburb of Logan and charged with one count of murder related to domestic violence.

He was denied bail by police and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday.
