Perth worker Shane Ramsey fights for his life in Bali after nightmare holiday

A young Australian worker, Shane Ramsey (pictured), has been left in a coma after sustaining serious injuries when he crashed his moped while on holiday in Bali on Sunday.

An Australian carpenter is in a coma after suffering a horror motorcycle accident while on holiday in Bali.

Shane Ramsey, 30, was riding a motorcycle on his way to watch the UFC with his friends on Sunday when disaster struck.

The worker crashed into a pole in Seminyak and was rushed to hospital for treatment of a skull fracture, bleeding on the brain, blood in the lungs and severe brain damage.

He underwent emergency neurosurgery before being put into a coma, while his frantic friends and family in Perth wait and pray for some good news.

Mr Ramsey had been in Bali for a wedding.

TO GoFundMe It was launched on Monday to help pay for Mr. Ramsey’s medical bills and a future medical evacuation home since he did not have travel insurance.

“The surgery alone costs $53,000 and each night in the hospital is an additional $9,000,” wrote organizer Amyleigh Mitchell.

‘The flight to bring him home will cost a minimum of $150,000.

“We just want to bring Shane home as soon as possible so he can be closer to all his friends and family.”

Ms Mitchell said any donation would help “relieve some of the pressure” placed on her family.

The fundraiser has already raised more than $41,000 in a matter of hours.

“If anyone can help my brother it would mean a lot to us, any amount helps,” Ramsey’s brother posted online.

The carpenter’s former boss also took to Facebook to raise awareness about the fundraiser.

He recalled running into his former apprentice a few weeks ago and described Mr Ramsey as a great guy.

“You forget how fucking fragile life can be (and) how quickly everything can change,” she wrote.
