A worker who tragically died after being electrocuted has been identified as a loving father of three and a sports fanatic with a big laugh.

Emergency services were called to Maida Vale in Perth’s east end at around 1.30pm on July 23 following reports that a man had been electrocuted in a workplace accident.

Tree surgeon Mika Tua, 29, was felling trees on a property on Lilian Road when his tools struck power lines.

His heartbroken wife Shirley Tua revealed she couldn’t believe it and “just screamed” when she heard her husband had died.

“I usually always pick him up, make him some tea and say, ‘Honey, please be careful,’ and yesterday was the first time I didn’t say that and now he’s gone,” Tua told 9News.

Ms Tua said the couple met at church nine years ago and had three children together.

She has been using her husband’s clothes to keep him close.

Originally from New Zealand, Mr Tua is remembered as a loving father and a sports fanatic who laughed a lot.

His brother, Tua Tua, said they had planned to travel together but “now he is gone.”

“I want him to be here to continue our plan,” Tua said.

Family friend Angelene Sua-Sagapolutele started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family as Mr Tua was their only source of income.

“This young family is now faced with the immense tragedy of this sudden loss, with heavy hearts and enduring irreparable pain,” Ms Sua-Sagapolutele wrote.

‘Losing a loved one is never easy, but losing someone unexpectedly creates a wound that time cannot heal.

‘Mika was the main and only source of income, but his sudden death has left the family in a difficult situation. The funeral expenses, coupled with the current circumstances, are overwhelming.’

Ms Sua-Sagapolutele explained that the funds will support Ms Tua in paying for funeral costs and assist her with daily expenses.

“Mika Tua will be deeply missed by his wife, children, family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him,” Sua-Sagapolutele said.

‘Thank you in advance for your support and kindness towards Shirley and her family during this difficult time. God bless you.’

WorkSafe and Building and Energy investigators attended the scene and examined the circumstances surrounding Mr Tua’s tragic death.

“Investigators examined the circumstances of the incidents with the aim of ensuring compliance and preventing future incidents of a similar nature,” a WorkSafe spokeswoman said.
