Police have issued an urgent warning after students who ate jelly beans laced with drugs were rushed to hospital.
On Wednesday, a student at a high school in Perth’s west was found in possession of gummy candies believed to contain THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.
Police launched an investigation and discovered that two other students from the same school had eaten the candy and were taken to the hospital the day before.
The pair, both 17, were taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital after school on Tuesday and were discharged later that evening.
An investigation is underway to find the origin of the drug-laced candy.
“WA Police are urging all students at western suburbs schools who have purchased or received gummy sweets in recent days not to eat them,” the statement said.
‘If you have swallowed a jelly bean and are not feeling well, seek medical attention immediately.
‘If you are in possession of any of the gummies, do not ingest them.’

The warning came after three people were taken to hospital as a precaution after spitting out methamphetamine-laced sweets they had received in a food parcel in an unrelated incident in Auckland.
