Perth shopper Courtney Oliver takes to TikTok with an epic rant about why she's "fed up" every time she goes to the supermarket

An Australian shopper has taken to social media to complain about rude customers she encounters at the supermarket.

In her TikTok titled ‘Justice for supermarket workers… are you guys okay?’, Courtney Oliver said the staff at her local Coles supermarket in Perth are ‘literally just old ladies who have been working there for like 65 million years’ and ‘young people who are like from school and college’.

‘They’re all beautiful, they’re all lovely… everyone there is so nice.’

Ms Oliver continued: ‘Every time I go, someone, I don’t want to say someone older, because sometimes they’re younger, but there’s always someone who says, “I don’t want to use the self-service, why aren’t there tills available to pay with cash?” Blah, blah, blah.’

Looking directly into the camera, Ms Oliver asked: “Do you think it’s their fault?”

‘Do you think that bloody Emily who works at Coles three days a week just to pay for her life while she goes to university, do you think she decides how many boxes there are?

“Do you think that old bitch Linda, who has been working there at the cash register or selling tobacco for 27 years… do you think it’s her decision? No!”

Ms. Oliver said she will always defend an employee or staff member if someone is rude to them, because she has been in that position.

Ms. Olive continued with her epic speech.

“If you really believe the person who is serving you or who is there controlling the self-service checkout, if you believe that it is he or she who has personally made a decision that makes you uncomfortable, you have stones in your head.”

Ms. Oliver ended the TikTok by reminding customers that staff members do not make decisions.

‘It’s the big corporations that decide, not the young people.

‘Stop being so mean.’

Replies to Ms Oliver’s TikTok thanked her for standing up for supermarket staff.

“As someone who works at the Coles checkouts, thank you,” wrote one.

“There’s a Coles worker here… every day! I understand a little bit, but why do they keep harping on us like it’s our fault? They tell us it’s literally our fault!” wrote another.

‘Of course. My daughter, who worked at Coles, had food thrown at her for asking someone to scan an item after they tried to steal it.

‘I literally worked drive-thru and a lady came up yelling and said she shouldn’t have to scan her stuff herself. She was told the registers were open. She told me she didn’t want to wait. Logical.’

One response summed up the gratitude toward Ms. Oliver.

‘Customers like you help us get through our shifts, so thank you!’
