A Perth cryptocurrency trader has been accused of murdering his mother, whose body was discovered more than two years ago inside their million-dollar Bicton home.
Andre Rebelo, 26, was arrested Tuesday and charged in the May 2020 death of Colleen Rebelo.
A WA Police spokesman said officers were called to the mother’s house on Preston Point Road at around 2:30pm on May 25 and discovered her body.
The matter has been listed in court documents as a domestic violence case.
An obituary notice described Ms. Rebelo as a loving mother of four children.
“Due to the current circumstances, a private funeral will be held,” it read.
Other tributes expressed shock at the sudden passing of a “beautiful, morally strong and devoted mother” and sent their condolences to her children, including Andre.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Western Australia High Court on December 21.
The North Coogee man also faces 35 fraud-related charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty. He will face trial to fight those allegations in December 2023.
Rebelo shares a son with Instagram model Gracie Piscopo, who has more than 1 million followers on the social platform and 32 million views on her YouTube channel.
According to an online biography, Rebelo has been involved in cryptocurrency trading and has also managed Piscopo’s career.
