Cate Blanchett left fans baffled after showing up at the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards without her wedding ring on Sunday night.
The Australian actress, 54, married to playwright Andrew Upton, 58, since 1997, surprised at the British film industry event with a maroon Louis Vuitton dress and a striking combination of body chains.
However, instead of wearing her white gold and diamond wedding sparkler, the Blue Jasmine star rocked a large emerald cocktail ring. Her husband did not attend the event.
Interestingly, Cate was also spotted without a ring earlier this month, when she attended an event in New York at the Museum of Modern Art on February 6.
Accompanied by Sophie’s Choice co-star Ethan Hawke, Cate oozed sophistication in a gray pantsuit with a gradient print and a bow necklace.
Cate made no attempt to hide her bare ring finger as she smiled for photos outside the exclusive event.

speaking to Women’s Day magazine on Monday, a source close to the couple said Cate’s missing ring has raised alarm bells about the state of their marriage.
‘Seeing Cate without her ring has shocked her friends. For the first time they are wondering if things are not going so well,” says the source.
A question mark has been hanging over Cate and Andrew’s marriage for some time.
The couple have also not been seen on a date since August, when they were photographed enjoying a sun-soaked holiday in Ibiza.
They also attracted attention earlier this month after putting their sprawling mansion in Prahran, Melbourne, up for sale.

The three-bedroom family home, which the couple bought in 2006, will be sold at auction with a guide price of between $2.25 million and $2.45 million.
Cate and Andrew have lived in the UK since 2015 and still own several other properties together.
Their portfolio includes a glorious Victorian mansion in East Sussex, England, which they bought for £4.9 million (AU$9.4 million) in 2015.
The couple also owns an investment property in Sydney’s CBD.
Cate and Andrew share three sons, Dashiell, 22, Roman, 19, and Ignatius, 16, and a daughter called Edith, eight.
They also attracted attention earlier this month after Cate and Andrew put their sprawling mansion in Prahran, Melbourne, up for sale.
