Perry Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, says her husband has been seeing multiple doctors in the wake of an onstage “outburst” toward bandmate Dave Navarro earlier this month during a Jane’s Addiction concert in Boston.
Etty, 49, posted a message on Instagram on Saturday addressing the fallout from the incident between the singer, 65, and the guitarist, 57, which led Jane’s Addiction to cancel the remainder of its Imminent Redemption tour.
“We’re taking some time for ourselves to reflect and heal,” Etty said. “Perry already has appointments with an ENT specialist and a neurologist.”
An otolaryngologist focuses on treating a person’s ears, nose, and throat, while a neurologist focuses on a person’s brain and nervous system.
Etty added: “If you know and love Perry well, you know there is no need for him to address the other false narratives. Our souls know that.”

The Sept. 13 incident between the 65-year-old singer and the 57-year-old guitarist in Boston led Jane’s Addiction to cancel the remainder of its Imminent Redemption tour.
Addressing the confrontation with Navarro, Etty said: “We are equally shocked by Perry’s physical outburst as you are, but you must know that Perry must have been pushed to his absolute limit… for that reason, we apologize.”
Etty said she and her husband were “beyond grateful and very humbled” by the support they received from people “who reached out again and again to make sure we were well taken care of.”
Etty said her friends have offered “love and compassion, words of kindness and even their homes so we can escape…” and that her husband will “persevere,” “recover” and “be happy again.”
He added: “He will be able to share his music, his vision and his art again, without limits.”
Etty added: “Make no mistake, when he’s ready, he’ll take another giant leap over the hurdles to make us laugh and think, as we change the world together.”
Etty concluded by saying, “We can rejoice together then. And you will know that we could not have done it without you.”

Etty said in a September 14 post that Farrell “had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night” leading up to the incident.
Jane’s Addiction released a statement offering a “sincere apology” for canceling the remainder of its programming.
“To all fans, the band has made the difficult decision to take some time off as a group,” the group said. “As a result, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.”
On his Instagram Stories, Farrell said: ‘This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologise to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.
‘Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior and I take full responsibility for how I chose to handle the situation.’
