Perrie Edwards has opened up about being a mother for the first time and said that raising her son is the best thing she has ever done and that it has completely changed her life.
The 31-year-old singer welcomed Axel with her fiancé, footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, in 2021.
Speaking to Sirius FM in the US, she said becoming a mother has given her a new confidence and she no longer worries about the small things.
She added that she is completely obsessed with him and feels very protective.
The former Little Mix star said: “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It gives me so much inspiration.”

“When I had Axel, I learned a lot about not worrying about the small things. Many things affected me a lot and made me feel very uncomfortable.
‘I’m not very good at handling confrontations; anything like that would normally overwhelm me.
“But when I had Axel, I thought, ‘None of that stuff matters. I can handle it. I just gave birth to a human being.'”
‘I felt powerful. I thought someone might test me… I think I’m ready now.’
Perrie added: “He gave me a confidence I didn’t know I had. And then I felt like I was protecting him, so I became his protector.”
“And then I thought, ‘Well, if I can do this for him, I can do this for myself.’ And that changed me in a positive way. I would say for the better.”
“It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.”
“I’d be in the garden and he’d turn around and say, ‘Mom.’ And sometimes I’d surprise myself and say, ‘I’m a mom.'”

She said: “When Axel was born, I learned a lot about not sweating the small stuff. A lot of things used to get to me and make me feel really uncomfortable… but when Axel was born, I thought: I can handle this. I just gave birth to a human being.”

The singer recently revealed the reason why she is in no rush to marry Alex after he proposed to her two years ago.
The “Forget About Us” singer concluded: “And even today, even though he’s three, I’m like, ‘I’m a mom. I made you!’ It’s crazy because I’m obsessed with him. I love him, I love him.”
This comes after Perrie gave fans a sneak peek of her family vacation earlier this month.
The singer posed for photos in a fun, watermelon-themed knit bikini in the update shared on Instagram on Sunday.
While at the beach with her son, another sweet snap showed her cradling Axel as they walked along the sand.
Axel, who turns three next month, looked adorable in a blue printed Hawaiian shirt and denim shorts.
Recently, Perrie revealed the reason why she is in no rush to marry Alex.
The couple have yet to set a date after the footballer proposed to her two years ago.
“I feel like we’ve already planned it. In our minds we know it and we talk about it a lot – Alex more than me, actually, which is really nice because he wants everything to work out,” Perrie said during an interview on Australian radio.
“He wants a party, he wants an artist, he wants it to be a big event. I already know who I want as bridesmaids and this and that. Everything is more or less decided, but we haven’t planned it yet.”
Perrie added that she wants to wait until Axel is older so he can play a major role in the wedding.
“There are a lot of things going on in my life right now, I have a lot to do. We’ve talked about waiting until Axel is older and then he can be a pageboy or whatever. It makes more sense.”
