Ryan Reynolds pays emotional tribute to late Deadpool & Wolverine production designer Ray Chan following his unexpected death as the star reflects on their touching final conversation.

Ryan Reynolds paid an emotional tribute to Deadpool & Wolverine production designer Ray Chan following his death this week.

Chan was best known for being Marvel Studios’ longtime supervising art director, and his passing was announced in a statement from the studios on Wednesday.

Reynolds, 47, who plays Deadpool, took to Instagram on Friday with a message that read: ‘RIP Ray Chan

‘Words are quite insufficient compared to this loss. There is an incomparable reservoir of skill, tender courage, and talent that no longer exists.

“He was as valuable a creative force on Deadpool & Wolverine as the writers, director and stars.

‘I don’t claim to know every chapter of Ray’s heart, but I know it’s unusual to find someone of that level of artistry, who simultaneously moved through the world with such indelible humanity.

‘He built worlds from scratch and did so in the most collaborative and inclusive way.

‘Ray was incomparable. He will be missed by many, but especially by his family. The last time I saw Ray was exactly two weeks ago. one of the last things

‘I told him that he does magic and that there is no one on earth like him. He and I also gave each other a lot of good humor.

“So, of all the last things you could say to someone you adore, that’s one small comfort I’ll cling to forever.”

Ray is survived by his wife Lindsay and sons Caspar and Sebastian. No cause of death has been announced. No cause of death has been announced.

Kevin Feige, CCO of Marvel Entertainment and president of Marvel Studios, and co-president Louis D’Esposito said in a joint statement: “Ray was first and foremost a good friend to everyone at Marvel Studios.

“He was a talented collaborator who brought creativity and attention to detail to every frame of every film he worked on, and who was able to bring out the best in every department he worked with.

“He was the nicest human being and a pleasure to work with, enormously generous and the kind of person who could take the seed of an idea and turn it into something beautiful.”

‘We are devastated by his passing. He will be missed by everyone at Marvel and our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.”

Ray first joined Marvel Studios on Thor: The Dark World as supervising art director and went on to serve as supervising art director on many other Marvel films, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange , Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

He was also art director on Spider-Man: Far From Home, as well as production designer on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, additional photography, and the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine.

The announcement comes days after the explosive second trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine debuted on Monday morning, featuring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s iconic superheroes facing off in action-packed fashion.

Reynolds’ hero walks into a bar where Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is trying to get a drink, but the bartender refuses to serve him.

Deadpool is dressed in his red and black suit as he tells Wolverine to leave the bar, but old Wolf says no.

They put a gun to his head after the former good guy’s claws start coming out of his knuckles. Deadpool keeps making fun of the ‘over 40’ icon and even drops the F-bomb.

Throughout the clip, Deadpool struggles to convince Wolverine to become a good superhero again while Wolverine staunchly resists.

This is the third installment in the Deadpool film series and the first set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Deadpool and Wolverine do it to Madonna’s song Like a Prayer from the late 80s.

“I’m about to lose everything I’ve ever cared about,” Deadpool tells Wolverine. Wolverine then says dryly, “Not my damn problem.”

Then, the very grumpy Wolverine digs his claws into Deadpool’s crotch.

Later, Deadpool tries to get under Wolverine’s skin: “Do you want to talk about what’s haunting you, or should we wait for a third act flashback?”

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives almost six years after the release of Deadpool 2.

The first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine debuted during the Super Bowl and broke the record for the most viewed movie trailer in 24 hours with 365 million total views.

Deadpool and Wolverine debuts in theaters on July 26 and has become one of the most anticipated movies of the summer.

There have been many who also wondered about John Brolin’s Cable from 2018’s Deadpool 2, although the actor was rather coy on the subject.

While promoting his new movie Dune: Part 2 in an interview with ColliderBrolin was asked if he was in Deadpool 3 and if not, why, though Brolin gave a strange answer.

‘No. I don’t know. Why doesn’t Ryan (Reynolds) like me? I don’t know. I don’t know! Maybe?’ Brolin said with a smile.

It was confirmed that this story will take place before the events of 2017’s Logan, where Jackman’s Wolverine was killed, which was set in the year 2029.

All that is known about the story is that Deadpool and Wolverine ultimately team up again and “team up to defeat a common enemy.”

The first Deadpool was released in 2016 and made box office history as the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, grossing $782.8 million worldwide on a budget of just $58 million.

The 2018 sequel, Deadpool 2, grossed $785.6 million off a $110 million budget, paving the way for Deadpool and Wolverine.
