A Turkish plastic surgeon is performing extreme nose surgeries on his patients that make them look like a character from Dr. Seuss’ ‘Whoville’.
Before and after videos on social media show patients’ noses were drastically reduced in size and ended up with an upward tip.
The surgeon behind this trend is Dr. Ferda Erol, based in Izmir, Türkiye.
In tiktok His rhinoplasty videos have racked up millions of views, with commenters left perplexed and surprised by the results, asking if it was “a joke.”
Although Dr. Erol seems to be happy with the results, Doctor Antonio YounA plastic surgeon based in the US is worried.
Sharing his reaction to Dr. Erol’s surgeries with his 5.29 million YouTube subscribers, he admitted that he “didn’t understand it.”
Reacting to a nose job posted on Dr. Erol’s Instagram page @opdrferdaeroDr Youn says the woman is already “beautiful” and although she has a “little dorsal hump” – a small bump on the bridge of her nose – she only needed minor touch-ups.
“I think overall your nose looks really good and if you came to me for a nose job I would probably shave off that bump a little bit and that would probably be it,” he said.
But in the clip of her nose after surgery, the patient’s nose is rotated upward much more than what is considered the “ideal” nasal angle for a woman.
Sharing his reaction to Dr. Erol’s surgeries with his 5.29 million YouTube subscribers, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn (pictured) admitted he “didn’t get it.”
Dr. Anthony joked that the bizarre nose jobs make patients look like a character straight out of Dr. Seuss’ ‘Whoville.’
Dr. Youn explains that the angle between the nose and the upper lip is called the “nasolabial angle”, in women a perfectly shaped nose is believed to be between 95 and 105 degrees.
But in this patient’s case, the angle after surgery is much larger, 123 degrees.
Judging from another video on Dr. Erol’s TikTok showing a man undergoing a dramatic nose job, Dr. Youn again said that his nasal angle is far above the ideal beauty standard.
He said: “The ideal male nasal angle is about 90 degrees and this man, right after surgery, is about 120 degrees.”
The surgeon admitted that surgeons often undergo a “signature nose job,” meaning that many of their results “look the same.”
He added that the most important thing is that Dr. Erol’s patients are happy with their nose surgery.
However, Dr. Youn questioned the authenticity of some of her videos.
One video shows a bulbous nose in the pre-surgery clip, but Dr Youn suggests it is “misleading” and suspects the nose has been “infused with a ton of anesthetic”.

He explains that anesthesia injections can “fill out” the nose before surgery.
Dr. Youn added: “Usually, if you apply a lot of pressure at the beginning of the operation, most of the fluid can be expelled.”
“So, to begin with, this patient does not appear to have a very wide nose, although she has made it appear that way.”
Although Dr. Youn admitted that he had already stopped getting his nose done, when he did, he said he opted to make small adjustments.
She stressed that it is vital to research your surgeon before undergoing plastic surgery and urged people to look at before and after photos and videos to make sure the results match what they are looking for.
