Pensions special: your questions answered by Steve Webb and other experts on the This is Money podcast
This is money
Are you trying to save for your retirement, do you get the most out of your income in old age, do you navigate through the major of the state pension, or are you just baffled by a little pension jargon?
In the This is Money podcast this week the former minister of pensions and our regular columnist, Steve Webb, is ready to help you.
Editor Simon Lambert and hostess Georgie Frost are also accompanied by the boss of the Pensions Advisory Service, Michelle Cracknell, to answer questions from readers about retirement savings.
Subjects include: am I overloaded by a financial advisor to invest my pension? When I die, do my wife inherit some of my state pension? And does the transfer value of my last salary pension increase if I wait?
Steve and the panel also address questions about later marrying and building up pension as a self-employed person.
And they explain part of the awful jargon used by the pension sector. Why can the GMP or the guaranteed minimum pension cause a surprise in your state pension? Is a PIE – an increase in the pension increase – worth the effort of taking a previous employer?
Pension fund: we answer your pension issues and explain the jargon of the pensions
How does the Lifetime Allowance work, and if you think you could violate this, you should consider getting a Lifetime Isa?
Georgie also asks Steve and the others their opinion on some of the most popular issues raised by This is Money readers, including pension freedoms and the flat-rate state pension.
If you have a question, send it to email@example.com on Monday 12 November between 2 and 4 pm for our live web chat.
