Pelican flies onto field and wows fans during Giants-Reds game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Matt Chapman he threw a grand slam in the first inning, but that was not the highlight of Giants win 5-1 over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday at Oracle Park.
Rather, it was a Pelican that flew onto the field in the top of the fifth inning.

While Chapman’s blast in the first inning got the party started, it was the Pelican who kept the festivities going until mid-innings, with fans erupting into vigorous celebration as he took off from the outfield grass.

Fans in attendance seemed to universally adore their new big-beaked friend, but not everyone was thrilled with the pelican’s appearance.
