Pedophile Gary Glitter ‘Is Being Sent Back To Prison’ Just One Month After He Was Released

Pedophile Gary Glitter ‘is being sent back to prison’ just a month after his release from jail, after the disgraced rock star was caught ‘trying to access the Dark Web on his phone’

  • He was reportedly seen on camera inside a bail shelter where he “asked how to avoid detection when browsing the web” on a mobile phone.
  • Glitter was “trying to find The Onion,” which is a term for the infamous Dark Web online kingdom, used by pedophiles because it’s hard to track.

Pedophile Gary Glitter is reportedly being ‘returned to prison’ just a month after being released from jail.

The disgraced rock star, 78, is believed to have been caught ‘trying to access the Dark Web on his phone’.

He was seen on camera inside a bail hostel in Waterlooville, Hampshire, where he was “asking how to avoid detection when browsing the web” on a mobile phone while saying he was trying to find “the Onion.”

‘The Onion’ is a term for the infamous Dark Web online kingdom, used by pedophiles as it is difficult to monitor or track users.

Glitter was seen hiding under a brown blanket when he was taken out of the shelter on bail Monday night in an unmarked police car.

Glitter was released after serving half of a 16-year sentence imposed in 2015 for sexually abusing girls under the age of 13 during his glam rock heyday in the 1970s and 1980s.

He was previously jailed for four months in 1999 for a vile cache of 4,000 child abuse images found on his computer. Glitter went abroad and was jailed again in 2006 for sexually abusing two girls in Vietnam.

Last night, former Attorney General Robert Buckland KC called for ‘swift action’ after the released pedophile was filmed apparently discussing the sinister ‘Dark Web’.

Prominent Tory MP Lord Buckland, who was also Lord Chancellor, told the Daily Mail: “I would have thought there would be licensing conditions that would prohibit this type of activity and I hope the Justice Ministry will take swift action to deal with this.” .

Former Home Secretary Priti Patel said if Glitter was breaching the conditions imposed when he was released last month, he should be sent back to jail.

“This is very shocking and makes you feel bad,” he added.

The Justice Ministry said: “Sex offenders are closely monitored by police and the Probation Service and face some of the strictest licensing conditions, including restrictions on internet use.” If an offender breaches these conditions, he can be returned to prison.’

But human rights laws protect the use of the web even by prolific pedophiles like Glitter. Appeals Court judges ruled more than a decade ago that it was generally wrong to impose blanket bans.

That means it’s hard to keep an eye on Glitter’s activities. He was released from prison in Dorset and is at the hostel in the south of England set in leafy grounds behind security gates.
