Nearly two decades after first hitting the Top 100 singles charts as one half of Tenacious D, Jack Black has hit the charts on his own.
The 53-year-old singer and actor — who made headlines earlier this month for confirming a 20th anniversary school reunion — made his 83-year-old debut on the top 100 charts with his single Peaches, according to painting.
The voice of Bowser in Super Mario Bros. , with “Peaches” a loving tribute to the beloved Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy).
The song was released on April 7 through Illumination/Nintendo/Back Lot Music (a subsidiary of Universal Pictures), amassing 5.8 million US streams and 6,000 downloads in its first week, through April 13, via data from Luminate.
The song also debuted at number six on the Digital Song Sales charts, with a music video also released on April 7, directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett.

The music video features black dressed in green just like his animated character Bowser, playing a peach-colored piano while the melody beats, and staring at a figure of Princess Peach next to a bowl of peaches.
As part of Tenacious D, along with Kyle Gass, Black debuted on the Hot 100 in 2006 with their hit song from the movie of the same name, The Pick of Destiny, which peaked at 78 on the singles chart.
Tenacious D also has four albums that charted on the Billboard 200- 2001’s Tenacious D (#33), 2006’s The Pick of Destiny soundtrack (#8), Rize of the Fenix (#4) and 2018’s Post- 2012’s Apocalypto (No. 4) (No. 93).
Pick of Destiny and Rize of the Fenix both hit #1 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart.
The only other single entry for Black Billboard was Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy with Jason Segel, which reached No. 45 on the Holiday Digital Song Sales chart in 2010.
The singer and actor made headlines recently due to his surprise appearance – along with singer Lizzo – in the Disney Plus Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
The episode, titled Guns for Hire, followed Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) visiting the lavish exoplanet known as Plazir-15, along with Grogu aka Baby Yoda.
The planet is ruled by the powerful couple known as the Duchess (Lizzo) and Captain Bombardier (the Black).

The Duchess takes a liking to the adorable Grogu in the episode, and Grogu even uses her powers in The Force to help her win an interstellar game of lawn that looks like bocce ball.
The actor also recently confirmed that there was a reunion planned with the cast of his 2003 comedy School of Rock, which stars 10-year-old Miranda Cosgrove, Sarah Silverman, Joan Cusack, and Mike White.
We will get together and have a 20 year anniversary. Black said: We love jam ET. “I look forward to seeing all the adults from School of Rock,” he said.
The actor, 53, is amazed at the fact that his school-age co-stars are now adults.
He said, “All these kids—dig this—were 10 when we made this movie and now they’re all, like, 30.”
Jack Black will reprise his role as Joseph Stalin in Hulu’s History of the World: Part II and voice Po in Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.
He can currently be seen on the big screen as Bowser in the Super Mario Bros. movie. long overdue.
