Paula Abdul talks about the health and fitness secrets behind her incredible physique.

At 62, the famous pop star and choreographer is still in top physical condition, surprising audiences several times a week as the opening act for New Kids On The Block’s Magic Summer Tour.

In recent shows, the former American Idol judge has looked sensational in skimpy on-stage outfits, from sparkly minidresses to form-fitting suits that hug every inch of her toned figure.

The star continues to dance like a madman to all his classic hits, including Cold Hearted and Straight Up, executing all the choreographies with ease.

“I love being able to communicate through music and dance and as long as I can continue to do that, I will do it as long as I can,” she told DailyMail.com.

“You know, being on stage is a happy place for me,” he added.

Fans were wowed by the hitmaker’s ageless looks and lively performances, with many taking to social media to express their adoration.

“They don’t make pop girls like that anymore,” one raved, while another wrote: “She looks amazing omg!”

“I’m impressed that she and Janet (Jackson) can deliver a better performance on stage than the younger ones out there today,” wrote another.

“The most impressive thing is that she has had 10 spinal surgeries, three metal plates put in her neck, has lost an inch in height and can still dance like that. Most people wouldn’t be able to get out of bed,” wrote one.

Asked about her chronic back pain, which she suffered following a plane crash in 1992, Paula told DailyMail.com she is “really doing well” with her health.

“I don’t like to say that I’m on a diet, but I do eat healthy by incorporating a lot of elements of an alkaline diet because my body, just from injuries, is very acidic, so I try to keep the balance right so I can keep as much inflammation out of my body as possible,” he explained.

When it comes to her daily diet, Paula’s favorite foods are fruits, vegetables, and coconut water.

“I make sure to eat healthy grains, like quinoa, and add some protein,” she shared.

‘My protein comes from anything from egg whites to tofu, chicken and shrimp, and I mix it up to have the right balance of protein and fat.’

Although she is careful about what she eats, Paula makes sure to indulge herself from time to time.

She likes vegan pizzas to avoid cheese and occasionally eats sweets, but tries to keep them to a minimum.

“Because of my injuries and to keep my body as optimal as possible, sugar is not something I can consume in excess,” he said.

The Forever Your Girl singer doesn’t slack off at the gym either and makes sure to work out almost every day, in addition to performing her rigorous dance routines on stage.

Paula starts her day at the gym with 30 minutes of cardio, followed by an hour of strength training with her personal trainer.

After the gym, the American Idol star spends about 90 minutes going over her show’s choreography and then spends about an hour doing isometric exercises and stretches with a physical therapist to warm up her body before a performance.

Paula’s trainers constantly challenge her with new exercises targeting different muscle groups, even including reverse crunches that will make you cry.

Aside from diet and exercise, Paula’s simple tip for looking fantastic is to never go to bed with makeup on.

“No matter how tired you are or what time it is, you need to have a good facial routine,” she stressed.

‘There is so much great new talent out there that I’ve learned to remain a student because, for me, if I remain a student, I’ll remain a good teacher.

“I think it’s important because you never stop learning.”
