Patti Newton shares photo of husband Bert in hospital for his 83rd birthday – as show business legend continues to recover after leg amputated
Australian television legend Bert Newton will have to celebrate his 83rd birthday without his family by his side as he is in hospital.
Patti Newton, 76, confirmed the news on Thursday before releasing a cute family photo taken before Victoria’s extended lockdown.
“Bert is still in the hospital, it’s a very long, hard journey,” Patti . said The Herald Sun.

The photo shows Bert and his wife surrounded by their grandchildren – daughter Lauren’s children Lola, nine, Monty, five, Perla, two, and Alby, 10 months.
The show business legend continues to recover after his leg was amputated in May. due to an infection.

Patti’s sweet post comes just weeks after she notified fans of Bert’s condition in an Instagram post.
She shared a photo of Bert in bed enjoying dessert while chatting with his 47-year-old wife.
On Monday she wrote: “After a few complications, Bert is doing well with a little rehabilitation and a lot of laughter and love.”

Patti didn’t elaborate on what those complications might have been.
The singer and actress closed the message with “Thank you to all the wonderful people who took care of him.”
Bert’s toe became infected before Christmas and he was in excruciating pain before doctors amputated his right leg just below the knee on Saturday, May 8, during life-saving surgery.
