New England Patriots linebacker Elandon Roberts said he was harassed by a police officer during a traffic jam because he is black.
The football player, 25, was transferred in March by Deputy Adam Watkins outside of his own home in Houston, Texas USA Today.
In a video of the incident, Delegate Watkins is told that the & # 39; big black man & # 39; had come out of the Porsche car and & # 39; would not meet & # 39 ;.

Roberts said he had not been told why he had stopped for nine minutes and has since filed a complaint with the sheriff's office. In the photo is an officer who inspects his parked vehicle
In a statement, Roberts said: & # 39; Is bothered in your own garden just because you have a & # 39; big black man & # 39; should never become the norm. & # 39;
The video that USA Today shares lets MP Watkins say: & I have not yet started the traffic stop. The big black man got out of the car.
& # 39; I told him to go back in and he would not comply. I had to shout at him quite loudly. & # 39;
Roberts & # 39; wife Tori also comes out of the house to see what's going on and to find her husband in the car in the driveway.

Other officers are then seen in the video, checking Roberts' car while it is parked in his driveway.
Although Roberts pulled it, he said that he had not been told why he had stopped for nine minutes.
Delegate Watkins allegedly stopped the footballer from driving 59 mph in a 35 mph zone and failed to take out insurance.
Roberts filed a complaint 10 days after the incident and said he felt so harassed that I didn't even know where my insurance papers were in my car. & # 39;
Attorney Jennine Hovell-Cox said that a few hours after it happened, Roberts received phone calls & # 39; apologetically & # 39; before the stop. The linebacker was shown during the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins competition last September
The Sheriff & # 39; s Department said the complaint was not handled, but a document did say a supervisor had been instructed to do a & # 39; refresher course & # 39; at Watkins.
Roberts' attorney, Jennine Hovell-Cox, said she believes a decision has been made to & # 39; quit & # 39; after superiors at the Sheriff's office realized who the man in the dashcam images was.
She said: & # 39; Elandon received a few hours after the & # 39; stop & # 39; phone calls from the sheriff's office and apologized and told him that the ticket & # 39; was rejected & # 39 ;.
Roberts played college football at the University of Houston and was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the NFL Draft 2016.
