The Patriots are reportedly waiving cornerback Jack Jones, according to a report Monday following the team’s 10-6 loss to the Colts in Week 10.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, New England cut Jones after he played 10 snaps on defense in Sunday’s loss to Indianapolis. Garafolo said he confirmed the news with Jones’ agent.
The decision to cut Jones comes after a recent stint in which he reportedly missed curfew ahead of a Week 9 game against Washington along with then-teammate J.C. Jackson.
The two players were then benched for the start of the match. A week later, Jones was again on the sidelines for a large part of the game. According to Chris Mason of MassLive, the 25-year-olddidn’t look involved.”
Teammate Jabrill Peppers appeared to acknowledge Jones’ behavior and promised to check in with him during the team’s bye week.
“I have a very good relationship with him,” Peppers told reporters about Jones after Sunday’s game. “I’m going to talk to him, see where his head is at. There’s a bye week coming up. Relax and refresh, recharge and come back ready to go to New York.”
As a rookie in 2022 — New England selected him in the fourth round — Jones quickly showed he had enough skill to get on the field, logging two interceptions and forcing a fumble.
In the off-season, he was arrested at Logan Airport when a pair of loaded guns were discovered in his carry-on luggage. Ultimately, the charges against him were dropped in exchange for accepting a year of probation and 48 hours of community service.
