Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey took a veiled dig at Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes while also giving him a backhanded compliment on his play.
Humphrey and the Ravens fell 27-20 to the Chiefs in the NFL season opener last Thursday.
On the latest episode of his ‘Punch Line’ podcast, the cornerback talked about how difficult it is to beat Kansas City and what Mahomes brings to the game.
“It felt good to go out there and play a little bit. I realized that Kansas City is one of the few stadiums where I haven’t won a football game. I think I have three more.”
“But it’s tough to beat the Chiefs. It’s very tough to beat the Chiefs. You wanted to get the double, but it’s tough to beat Mahomes.

Last season, a photo of Mahomes shirtless went viral, forcing the quarterback to defend his “dad bod.”
“What makes him so great is that he does some pretty wild stuff, which sometimes gets him, but often doesn’t. He gets away with a lot of things simply because he’s always willing to try, to give it a go.
“He’s a big, quick guy. He always amazes me when he’s outrunning people or outrunning people in the backfield, getting out of a sack and just throwing the ball.
“Honestly, to keep it upright, I’m pretty happy when I finish a practice standing up, honestly. So, it was good, except for losing and coming back at 4:00 a.m. after a loss, which makes it a lot worse. Other than that man, it’s good to be back playing basketball.”
Mahomes has previously defended what he calls his “dad bod” after receiving a lot of criticism that he was not physically fit for the 2023 season.
The Chiefs quarterback was photographed shirtless in the locker room after KC’s AFC Championship win over Baltimore last season, and the photo went viral.
“I definitely have a bit of a dad bod,” Mahomes told TIME first before defending his body shape.
“I’ll also say that I have a great body for a quarterback. You have to have some protection there to withstand the hits we take.”

Humphrey gave up a crucial touchdown at the end of a blown coverage when he allowed Chiefs rookie receiver Xavier Worthy to get past him for an easy six points.
That was Worthy’s second touchdown of the night and was the final nail in the coffin of Kansas City’s victory.
