Patrick Mahomes plays through ankle injury in worrying scenes as Chiefs hold their breath over star man

Patrick Mahomes appeared to injure his left leg after planting it awkwardly during the Chiefs’ game against the Buccaneers on Monday night.

As he lunged forward with the ball and stopped to hand it off to Samaje Perine in the end zone, the Chiefs quarterback’s left leg suddenly jerked and left him clearly uncomfortable early in the fourth quarter.

Mahomes then had to be helped off the field after suffering the freak injury at Arrowhead Stadium.

However, it was eventually confirmed that he would return to the game despite suffering an ankle injury.
