Randi Mahomes has asked for prayers for her father, the grandfather of Chiefs quarterback Patrick

Randi Mahomes, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick, has posted a concerning update about the health of her father, Randy.

She shared a photo of the two together on her Instagram Story with the caption, “Please pray for my dad.”

It comes three months after she shared a photo of her daughter Mia sitting by a hospital bed as Patrick’s grandfather lay facing the television and appeared to be watching Mahomes and the Chiefs against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Prayer warriors, please pray for my father,” she wrote on September 13. “He’s in the hospital and not feeling well.”

She never said exactly what his health problems are. But it comes at a time when Patrick and his wife Brittany are preparing for the birth of their third child: a second daughter.

Speaking this week around the Chiefs’ Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Patrick said Brittany will give birth soon.

“Any day now,” he said. “Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season, so I should try not to stress her out so much with these football games.

“Hopefully God works in the right way and we can have that baby sometime in the bye week and everything will be fine.”

The Chiefs defeated the Steelers 29-10 on Christmas, securing their spot as the AFC’s No. 1 seed and meaning they skipped the wild-card round that Mahomes called a bye week.

Mahomes will likely have plenty of time off between now and his next Chiefs game.

Kansas City is unlikely to risk him on Jan. 5 against the Denver Broncos, as there is nothing else to gain from the final game of the regular season.

And the playoffs mean Mahomes and his Chiefs team will be back in action on January 18 or 19.
