Patrick Mahomes has allayed fears that he could miss the Chiefs’ next game against the Denver Broncos, despite admitting his ankle is a little sore after aggravating an injury on Monday night.
There was silence in Arrowhead during Kansas City’s overtime victory over the Bucs when superstar quarterback Mahomes had to be helped off the field in the second half.
Although he managed to finish the game, the ankle injury was a concern given that it was the second consecutive game in which he felt pain in the same area, he abruptly got up from a fight and instead opted to throw a touchdown pass.
“When you have a little bit of a roll, it hurts a little bit,” Mahomes told reporters Wednesday as preparations for the Broncos game began.
“But I can move and I’m looking forward to getting out there and practicing and seeing how I can push myself as the week goes on.”

Mahomes has now revealed that he expects to play this week and practiced on Wednesday.
Head coach Andy Reid also confirmed that Mahomes will not be limited in practice, and all signs point to the QB1 being ready and raring to go this weekend.
The Chiefs remain the only undefeated team in the entire NFL, bringing their record to 8-0 with the win over Tampa Bay in primetime on Monday.
Mahomes admitted the short gap between games wasn’t ideal for his recovery, but he had plans to help.

“You can’t do much,” he said. “It’s pretty late (after Monday night’s game), but having some stuff in the training room after the game, then getting some stuff to take home and throw there, stuff you can do overnight and put it there.” to reduce swelling and things like that.
“You get there early (Tuesday) and yesterday was a long day watching film, getting treatment, doing some rehab stuff and getting ready for a short week and practice (Wednesday).”
Practice is understood to have gone well on Wednesday, with the quarterback fully participating in the session.
On the other hand, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tershawn Wharton did not practice.
