Patrick Dempsey pictured after it was claimed Ellen Pompeo ‘got $5 million hush money’

Patrick Dempsey has been photographed for the first time since it was alleged that his Grey’s Anatomy colleague Ellen Pompeo was given “$5 million hush money” for keeping quiet about his behavior on set.

The 55-year-old actor was seen on Monday riding an electric bike as he rode through Malibu, California near his home.

The sighting comes just a week after his former co-star Isaiah Washington claimed there were toxic elements working with Dempsey on the set of the ABC medical drama.

Washington, 58, speaking KBLA Talk 1580 with Tavis Smiley Thursday, claimed Ellen Pompeo, 51, “took five million dollars under the table… not to tell the world how toxic and nasty Patrick Dempsey really was” years ago when dozens of high-profile Hollywood names were accused of misconduct in the workplace amid the #MeToo movement.

Dempsey and Pompeo have so far been silent on the claims.

Washington said he was “used as a scapegoat” when he was fired from the series in 2007 after he was accused of using homophobic slur on castmate TR Knight.

He said on the radio show that “it was an agenda to cover up the toxic and bad behavior of many of my former castmates on that show…and the top of that would be Patrick Dempsey.”

Washington said his tension with Dempsey was initially based on finances.

“I was the highest paid person on that show, next to Patrick Dempsey,” he said. “Apparently it came true, so there was a lot of resentment. I understand that, but it was based on my positions and my resume. I can’t help that.

“His name was Pilot Poison. Nobody wanted him on the show. They wanted Rob Lowe.’

Washington added that Dempsey “wasn’t a nice guy from day one,” recalling an exchange with producer Peter Horton and Dempsey on his first day.

“I was sitting at a table reading, Peter Horton … came up to me and said, ‘I thought we got rid of you.’ Patrick Dempsey enters, not thinking I could see him with the reflection, raises his hands and says, “What is he doing here?” That’s day one.’

Washington alleged that Dempsey made racist statements against him while on set.

“He liked me and when I had a conversation with him he said, ‘Isaiah, do you know that white men are the masters of the universe?’ And I said, “Do you really believe that?” And he said ‘Absolutely,’ Washington said, according to the paper.

Washington said a “simmer of disrespect” from Dempsey worsened as time went on, recalling details of an infamous October 2006 clash they had when he was late on set.

He’s late that Monday. Instead of apologizing for it, he came in my face and attacked me three times. Physically. I did what I had to do as a man. And I called him names.

He said the homophobic phrase he used toward Knight was said in a different context.

Washington told Dempsey, “You’re not going to punk me, you’re not going to treat me like a B-word, and you’re not going to treat me like an F-word.

“I spoke to myself as we taunt and weaken it in the schoolyard. Talking about myself. But I had already heard the abuse, where he threw Kate Walsh through a window in anger. That he terrorized TR Knight.’

He said Knight, 48, was not present when he used the insulting expression, and that the story with Dempsey was twisted to make him look bad.

“It went from us to a brawl, which was never a brawl, for me to say something about TR,” Washington said, adding that he was “forced to apologize” to keep his spot on the hit show.

In the interview, Washington claimed that Pompeo had become “nervous” by the buzz around other performers in the series, including himself and Sandra Oh.

“She couldn’t believe that everyone was more interested in me and Sandra and everyone else than in her,” he said, adding that he was “not shocked” by Pompeo’s revelation last month that she clashed with Denzel Washington when the Oscar winner was directing. an episode of the series in 2016.

“She really thinks she’s cool with black people like that, but she’s not,” Isaiah Washington said.
