South Carolina junior Joshua Watson made a terrible mistake while attempting to kick a field goal.

Pat McAfee couldn’t believe how poorly a South Carolina student performed during a kicking challenge on College GameDay, prompting a damning five-word response over and over again.

Gamecocks business sophomore Joshua Watson was selected to attempt the 33-yard attempt, which would have earned him $120,000 had he split all three uprights.

Also at stake was $60,000 for the Jake Panus Walk-On Football Endowment Scholarship, which provides free tuition to some South Carolina football players who do not receive scholarships.

Watson talked a lot of nonsense before the attempt, including guaranteeing a successful kick by saying that kicking a football is “very easy” and “not a sport”, despite never having tried it before.

Watson’s attempt sailed a few feet along the ground before hitting a nearby security guard, while his shoe went flying off-screen. McAfee’s verdict was swift and brutal: “Worst kick ever!”

Pat McAfee couldn't believe how bad the attempt was and called it

Pat McAfee couldn’t believe how bad the attempt was and called it “the worst kick of all time.”

McAfee also repeated the phrase “this guy sucks” several times while looking directly at Watson.

Watson was immediately embarrassed, knowing that his colossal failure would be broadcast on national television and likely become the classic definition of what not to do on College GameDay.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit predicted how bad the kick would be before the attempt and said Watson “didn’t have a chance” because of how cocky he was when he attempted it.

The amount of money donated for the event was raised from $45,000 to $60,000 thanks to famous country singer and South Carolina fan Darius Rucker, who stood alongside Herbstreit and McAfee in the attempt.

After the kick, McAfee wanted to make sure the lasting image of his kick segment wasn’t the terrifying punch.

“We’ll keep donating, this kid is disgusting,” McAfee said before the cameras turned back to the other panelists.
