Pat McAfee headlined a raucous live show from Dublin on Friday for the start of the college football season, drinking beers and talking about edibles live on ESPN.

McAfee said he had drank six beers during the show and more before it started, before downing more pints of Guinness in front of a live audience.

He’s in Ireland as Florida State takes on Georgia Tech at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

“You’ll never see a man more drunk than Pat McAfee on ESPN right now,” one fan said on X.

Another said: “This might be the best Pat McAfee show ever. They’re in Dublin, Ireland, in a bar and he’s had four drinks in 15 minutes of the show.”

McAfee later said he had taken about 100 mg of edibles on his flight to Ireland.

“When you fly to international destinations, you can’t land in other countries with edibles or marijuana. AJ, a friend of mine, had bought a bunch of edibles,” he said.

“The pilots tell us to make sure there’s none of that stuff on the plane because when it lands they’re going to check it. AJ, you and I probably had 100 mg on the plane.

“It’s similar to my trip to London from Indianapolis, when I took 13 edibles. Last night was a very similar situation. AJ and I were each on about 100 mg.”

McAfee had WWE star Sheamus serve pints behind the bar with the pub packed with fans for the live audience.

They often shouted “turn it up,” apparently because they couldn’t hear McAfee and his guests talking during the show.

This made for a strange spectacle in the US, where fans watching in that country were at least five hours behind McAfee due to the time difference.

“The Pat McAfee show is a must-watch right now. It’s probably the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on ESPN. Everyone is unconsciously drinking Guinness,” said one amused fan.

A different viewer said: ‘Those two hours of the Pat McAfee show today were some of the most entertaining television I’ve ever seen.’

McAfee will return to ESPN screens on Saturday morning, and College GameDay will be hosted from Dublin for kickoff weekend.
