Pastor Richard Coles announces the death of his sister-in-law Louise after the COVID-19 battle

Pastor Richard Coles has announced that his sister-in-law Louise has died of COVID-19.

The former Strictly star, 58, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share the devastating news, just four months after his partner David died during surgery for internal bleeding from an underlying health condition.

Richard posted a photo of Louise, who was married to his older brother Andy, and David together in North Africa when he paid tribute to his ‘beautiful’ sister-in-law, who was a conservative councilor for Fletton and Woodston in Peterborough.

He wrote: ‘My dear sister-in-law @lozaamandine passed away this afternoon with COVID19.

She made many people very happy, not least @RevDavidColes, with whom she undertook extravagant and illicit expeditions to her beloved North Africa. RIP, dear woman. ‘

Richard’s partner, Reverend David Coles, died in December at the age of 42 after fighting for more than a year against an underlying health condition. He never recovered from internal bleeding surgery after being rushed to hospital.

Louise, a conservative councilor for Fletton and Woodston, Peterborough, had been unwell with cancer “for some time” and contracted COVID-19 while protecting herself from the pandemic. She was elected to the council in May 2019.

Richard’s older brother and Louise’s husband, Andy, also a conservative councilor for Fletton and Woodston, paid tribute on their own.

He shared a photo of the two and wrote, “I am very sorry to report the death of my wife Louise this afternoon.

She had been unwell with cancer for some time, but contracted coronavirus even during shielding. Fortunately we had time to prepare, but this was too early. ‘

Louise was a retired French teacher and head of the sixth grade at Peterborough School, where she had worked for 17 years.

Before settling in Peterborough, she lived in Egypt for ten years and traveled to Libya, France and Germany as part of her previous job as a publisher.

A few weeks earlier, Louise had shared a sweet Mother’s Day surprise with her daughter and brother-in-law while isolating herself.

Placing an image of a cardboard sign that says “happee muvvers dae innit!” left with a heart on her fence, she joked, “Yes. It is wonderful that the children live next door. ‘

“They can go out in a week. We are going to do this for at least three months. We live in weird times. ‘

While Richard also shared the image and wrote, “My sister-in-law, who isolated herself in Peterborough, was not forgotten yesterday by her daughter and son-in-law.”

Louise’s husband Andy also shared Richard’s announcement, adding, ‘And don’t forget’ house hunting ‘in France that weekend.

In December, Richard announced that his partner David had become “ill for a while” at the age of 42.

Richard, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, entered a civil partnership with David after the Church of England allowed it in 2005 – but they were celibate.

The couple lived with their dogs Daisy, Pongo, Audrey and Horatio at St Mary’s Parsonage in Finedon, Northamptonshire.

Richard wrote at the time, “I am very sorry that Rev David Coles died. He had been ill for a while. Thanks to the brilliant teams who took care of him at Kettering General Hospital. Funeral details to follow ‘.

Then he quoted Isaiah 60:20, “The Lord will be your eternal light, and the days of your mourning will end,” but he did not reveal the cause of David’s death.

Richard often spoke fondly about David and their lives together, especially on his Radio 4 show: Saturday Live. But their dream to go to Scotland with their four dogs will not come true anymore.

While David was ordained, he no longer worked as a priest, but the support role he played for his partner is considered essential to Pastor Coles, his parishioners said.

In his past life, Richard was the instrumentalist of the 1980s pop duo The Communards with Jimmy Sommerville, who had a number one single Don’t Leave Me This Way, and a number of other hits that made him millions.
