Desperate passengers are demanding answers from the New Jersey Transit Corporation after becoming trapped in a train car that derailed while arriving at Penn Station.
In a tweet, a passenger wrote: “@NJTRANSIT stuck in derailed train car.
“Have your people come and tell us that they have to find a way to get us out of here and that talking about going down is not reassuring.
NJ Transit said train service to and from Penn Station was suspended due to a “minor slow-speed derailment.”
“Midtown Direct service is being diverted to Hoboken,” they tweeted.

One passenger lamented not having heard any news on Twitter: “What’s happening at Penn Station? We’ve been stuck in the tunnel for 20 minutes. No sound system in our car.
Others were seen filming the chaos on the platform as disgruntled commuters made other travel plans.
Some photos believed to have been taken aboard the derailed service show people packed into the carriage like sardines while waiting for help.
The firefighters said citizen that the remaining train is transferred to track 8 while emergency personnel are on scene for “precautionary reasons”.
No injuries have been reported at this time and CBS News said there were about 1,500 customers and crew members on board.
Midtown Direct service has been diverted to Hoboken and tickets are honored by PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken, 33rd St-NY and buses.
NJ Transit told the outlet that a Northeast Corridor train left Trenton at 7:32 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 8:49 a.m.
At 8:55 a.m., it derailed just before reaching the station.
