An Australian driver told police he needed to go to the bathroom when he was caught driving almost twice the speed limit.

The man’s white Suburu was detected by NSW Police speeding at 111km/h in the 60km/h zone on Parramatta Road, Burwood, Sydney, at 11.20pm on Friday 28 June.

When the man was stopped by the NSW Police Force’s Traffic and Road Patrol Command, the driver told them he needed to use the toilet.

But the man’s reasoning was not enough to convince the police, who fined him $2,764 for speeding on a clearly marked stretch of road.

The impatient driver also had his license suspended for six months.

The man was arrested on busy Parramatta Road in Sydney's inner west.
