Police and fire services are investigating a series of suspicious fires in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to a vacant building in Granville around 4 a.m. Tuesday, which was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

About 50 firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire within an hour.

The intersection of Parramatta Road and Good St near Granville station was closed.

Both lanes of Parramatta Road have reopened, but traffic will be affected due to the presence of emergency vehicles.

A spokesman for New South Wales Fire and Rescue told the Daily Mail Australia’s investigators are treating the fire as suspicious.

“It is an empty building with no power to the site so it is being treated as suspicious,” they said.

“There were also several other fires.

‘Shortly before we arrived there was a rubbish fire around the corner and while we were there another fire started in a separate, vacant building a few doors down.’
