Listeners tuning in to the sixth episode of Meghan Markle’s Spotify Archtypes series might have been a bit surprised to hear socialite Paris Hilton introduced as the show’s latest guest.
In the new episode of the Duchess of Sussex’s podcast series, titled ‘Breaking Down The Bimbo’, she interviewed the 41-year-old socialite, where the pair discussed the Hilton heiress’s rise to fame as a reality TV star in the early noughties.
But while Hilton may be known for her flamboyant lifestyle – regularly sharing snippets of her extravagant life on social media – it seems the star wasn’t quite so confident when she came face to face with the California royal.
The first ten minutes of the interview was largely a lengthy introduction from the Duchess, 41, who detailed her thoughts on how Hilton had influenced her as a young woman.
Culture and brand expert Nick Ede told FEMAIL that Meghan’s guests had ‘become a secondary place’, with archetypes remaining ‘very focused’ on the Duchess ‘and her opinions’.
He said: ‘The new Archetypes podcast is a really powerful tool for Meghan Markle to access her views and establish herself as a voice listened to by millions.

After introducing Paris Hilton to her audience on the latest Archetypes podcast; the Duchess of Sussex launched into a long intro about the socialite’s life before the conversation began
Hilton, 41, told the Duchess of Sussex that she had been nervous ahead of the interview because I’m just such a shy person and we haven’t met before.
“She has cleverly invited some top talent including Serena Williams, Mariah Carey and now Paris Hilton to talk about perception, change and personal growth, among other things, and she has used her guests to debate her own agendas and offer her own opinions, as while she was in the royal family she was unable to have.
“Using such high-profile celebrities in different genres is a surefire way for Meghan to gain more listeners and more interest in her and her views.
‘The talent has kind of slipped into a secondary place, whereas with most podcast interviews the interviewer is a channel to hear more about their guest in Archetypes, the focus is very much on Meghan and her opinions.
“The success of the podcast is the idea of honest conversations, and using celebrity guests to get the most out of Meghan for her audience is a very smart way to increase her brand equity.”
Describing how Hilton had influenced her as a young woman, Meghan said: “All the things I think, especially when you’re young, and especially in the ’90s, that pop culture stuff, it was so influential that everything was about trying to be sexy and hot and cool’
After admitting she was nervous about the meeting, Markle explained why, saying: ‘I want to tell you because I remember growing up in LA around the same age and you were just so famous and so beautiful.
“And then, all the things that I think, especially when you’re young, and especially in the ’90s, that pop culture stuff, it was so influential, it was all about trying to be sexy and hot and cool.”
She continued: ‘I mean there was this moment and you were in that Zeitgeist and I was this geek so it was so hard for me to think about what you and I would talk about when so much of the identity became laid on you , or, you adopted or embraced or used to build a career was about not leaning in to think smart.
She finally adds, ‘So that’s why I was nervous,’ before letting her interviewee explain her own nerves, to which Hilton briefly responds, curtly saying she was worried because the pair had never met before.

Markle then goes on to reassure the heir: ‘This is a safe place. I want you to be yourself’ before launching into yet another letter about the socialist’s rise to fame.
The first ten minutes also hear Markle talk about her own experiences with ‘bimbo’ culture.
Markle opened up about her own experiences of being judged solely for her physical appearance when she starred as a Deal or No Deal ‘briefcase girl’ in 2006.
The Duchess of Sussex said she was grateful for the work as she tried to break through as an actress and ‘pay the bills’ – ‘but not how it made me feel, which wasn’t smart’.
The Californian royal, who appeared on the show in 2006, revealed that she and the other women on the show were forced to ‘put up’ for various beauty treatments, including ‘padding your bra’.
Meghan Markle today opened up about being a Deal or No Deal briefcase girl and revealed she quit, claiming she felt “objectified” and like a “bimbo”.

Meghan appeared on season two of NBC’s Deal or No Deal 16 years ago. She first stood next to file folder number 11 for two episodes, then moved to number 24. She left the show midway through the season.
She said: ‘I ended up quitting the show. I was so much more than what was objectified on stage.
‘I didn’t like feeling forced to be completely out. And a little substance. And that’s what it felt like to me at the time to be reduced to this specific archetype the word bimbo’, adding: ‘It’s a word used to cut down a beautiful woman to kind of say she’s beautiful , but maybe she’s a bitch or maybe she’s silly or stupid’.
Meghan said she wants her own daughter Lilibet to be valued for her brains. She said: ‘I want our daughter to aspire to be a bit taller. Yes, I want my Lili to want to be educated and want to be smart and be proud of those things’.
