A couple from the far north of Queensland have woken up for each parent's nightmare – the sound of their 14-year-old son Ryan screaming like a snake wound around his arm.
Emma and Neville Jackson come from a ferry station in Weipa, in the far north of Queensland, and the snake had somehow entered Ryan's room during the night.
"We started running to see what was going on and Ryan had wrapped his arm in the air with the pain with a tree tub around it. He tried to eat his hand, "Jackson said to the ABC.
Parents Emma and Neville Jackson woke up to every parent's nightmare, the sound of their 14-year-old son Ryan who screamed like a snake around his arm.
"We taught our children not to fear snakes because they are everywhere, but it was hungry and aggressive and did not want to let go," she said.
Unable to pry the snake from the boy's arm, the family came in the nick of time with a brilliant solution.
& # 39; They used a platypus piggy bank … they used the beak of the platypus to push it into the lower jaw of the snake and my father tried to push the mouth of the snake forward to lift it from my hand, & # 39; Ryan said.
The boy's mother said it was fortunate that the snake did not enter the room of Ryan's four-year-old sister Trixie-Bell because he thought the outcome could have been much worse.
They said it tied the hand after the snake was taken away from Ryan in case it was toxic because they were in a remote part of Cape York.
After a short stay in the hospital, Ryan got everything in order and returned home.
He said he has been checking his room thoroughly every night since the incident.
