A couple of quintuplets, triplets and two twins talk about what life is like with 14 children in TLC’s new reality show Doubling Down with the Derricos.
Karen and Deon Derrico have had four sets of multiples in a row, all of which were conceived naturally. The series, which will debut next month, begins with the couple getting ready to welcome triplets while raising their 11 oldest children, ranging in age from two to 14.
“With four sets of multiples back to back? It’s like being struck by lightning while struck by lightning, “says Deon, 49, in the trailer for the upcoming show, which premieres on August 11.

After welcoming their first two children, the couple had twins, quintuplets, and then second twins.
“Now I’m pregnant with triplets again,” explains Karen, 40, in the preview clip.
Multiples run on both sides of the family, and although Deon and Karen always wanted a big family, they didn’t know how big it would be.
“Many parents know that with one child, two children it is a job. But if you’re 14 soon, it’s ajobthe father admits.
“We have our good days and our bad days,” Karen adds. “But there is always enough love.”

The premiere season, which has been in development and production for more than a year, describes Karen’s pregnancy and the toll it takes on their growing family.
After 24 weeks, doctors advise the busy mom to spend the rest of her pregnancy on bed rest so that Deon must do the household and all 11 children alone.
The clip also shows Deon rushing to the hospital explaining that his wife is in active labor and will deliver their triplets early.
“Our triplet babies haven’t had enough time in the womb, and I’m just terrified,” the fourteen-year-old father admits.
In her testimony, Karen cries as she opens up about the “great responsibility” she feels.

“I’m really nervous that I could lose one of these babies,” she says.
