The indignant parents of Parkland victims shoot off their anger after a special report suggested that the suspended Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel was restored.
After the massacre at school in Parkland, Florida, in which 17 people were killed, Governor Ron DeSantis suspended Israel from his position in January and beaten him with allegations of breach of duty and incompetence for his reaction to the tragedy.
Nine months after his suspension, a special investigator for the Florida Senate advised Israel to get his job back in a report released Wednesday, according to Sun Sentinel.
The suggestion was a shocking reprimand against Gov. DeSantis and led to outrage among the relatives of victims of Parkland.
& # 39; He failed before that day, he failed during that day, and he clearly failed after that day, & # 39; said Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime was killed during the shooting. & # 39; The idea that he would even have a chance to step behind that chair is staggering. & # 39;

& # 39; I feel like someone just hit me in the stomach, & # 39; said Lori Alhadeff, whose daughter Alyssa died in the Parkland shooting, to AP.
Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow died in the massacre, tweeted: & # 39; @GovRonDeSantis did the righteous thing that the completely incompetent Scott Israel fired & # 39 ;.
& # 39; Are & # 39; amazing leadership & let children kill. He tried to become famous with CNN. Then he lied again and again. This was expected from Broward voters, not FL Senate judge, & he added.
DeSantis government also condemned the recommendation in a statement.
& # 39; The victims with families affected by the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School deserve justice and accountability. Floridians were shocked by the repeated failures of Scott Israel and expect their senators to offer the responsibility that the Parkland families have been looking for over the past year and a half, he said.
Israel was scrutinized in the public eye after the shooting policy for his shooter office and his own deputy cowardice when the officer assigned to protect the school ran to seek cover when the shooter ran the stormed campus.
Wednesday's report says DeSantis & # 39; s allegations against Israel of breach of duty and incompetence for not detecting the threat and preventing the shooting from taking hold.

Special Master Dudley Goodlette says there is no evidence to prove those allegations.
Goodlette acknowledged that the active shooting policy of the sheriff & # 39; not ideal & # 39; used to be.
& # 39; I do not, however, agree that the BSO Active Shooter policy was so inadequate that it shows a breach of duty or incompetence on the part of Sheriff Israel & # 39 ;, he said and saw that other law enforcement agencies in Florida have similar policies.
He qualified that although Israel is not flawless in the Parkland tragedy, the evidence presented during a two-day trial in June did not show why it justified his removal from office, according to NPR.
A state report following the Parkland shootout concluded that the Sheriff & # 39; s Office of Broward County had an & # 39; insufficient active attacker response policy & # 39; had. A representative of the sheriff assigned to the school was also slammed for his & # 39; horrible reaction & # 39; where he ran off the stage to seek cover.
That policy did not oblige you to come into direct contact with shooters.
& # 39; I am very humble and very grateful to God for what happened today & # 39 ;, Israel said during a press conference on Wednesday. & # 39; I have spent a lifetime in law enforcement. I just want to go back to what I was chosen for & # 39;

Lawmakers will decide whether to follow this recommendation and restore Israel or maintain the suspension and dismiss him in a special session next month.

Israel, a democrat elected in 2012, is embroiled in other controversies before Parkland. He came under fire for the handling by his office of a deadly 201 shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where a passenger opened fire and killed five.
Then the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School broke out in Parkland, killing 17 in February 2018.
