A mother has revealed all the casual lies she tells her daughter to get her through everyday tasks, and she’s not alone.
Tatum, from Texas, is the mother of a stubborn boy who previously refused to cut his nails, go to bed on time or brush his teeth twice a day.
It was difficult for Tatum to get her daughter to listen to her, but then she began to make up wild stories about the consequences of the girl’s disobedience.
The mother told her daughter that she would ‘turn into a bald eagle and take flight’ if she didn’t cut her nails, that she would have trolls in her mouth if she didn’t brush her teeth, along with other white lies to make the day ‘more easy’.
“They’re not big lies, they’re little white lies that help me get through everyday tasks because my daughter makes everything really hard,” the mother said.

In a now-viral video, Tatum revealed the dissonance between his ideal parenting style and reality.
‘You want to know something super embarrassing?’ he asked the audience of him.
‘Before I had a child, I was one of those people who thought I could never lie to my baby. I thought it was bad parenting.
“But now, I lie to my daughter every day, several times a day if necessary.”
The mom then revealed some of the ‘hilarious’ stories she made up.
“I told her if she didn’t let me cut her nails, she would turn into a bald eagle and fly away. She doesn’t want that, so she lets me cut her nails.”
He added: “I told him if he doesn’t brush his teeth twice a day, he’s going to get trolls in his mouth.” Now he brushes his teeth twice a day!
“And if he doesn’t go to sleep at night, the night monsters will sneak into his room and lick his toes, and now he goes to sleep at 9:30.”
The mother argued that she was lying ‘for’ the benefit of her son.
“I don’t know if this causes long-term damage, but I am willing to pay for the therapy,” she said. ‘Sometimes, you have to lie to your children. It is not your fault that they are gullible and believe it.
Tatum went on to say that the children “would probably find [the lies] funny’ when they grow up.
“Raising children is difficult,” he added.

Hundreds of other parents revealed the ‘white lies’ they told their children.
“I told my son that if he unbuckled his seatbelt, the police would automatically be notified and they would both be arrested,” said one mother.
“My son thinks it’s illegal not to hold hands in a parking lot,” wrote another. ‘He has yelled at other kids about jail time.’
‘I told my redheaded daughter that carrots keep her hair red, and now she loves carrots!’ a third party revealed.
Some adults shared the lies they believed growing up.
‘My dad told me the car wouldn’t start unless my seatbelt was on. I believed him until I was 16!’ said a man.
Another added: ‘My dad told us that the toy monster steals toys left on the floor. He went as far as to hide them if we left them out.
