Paramount Pictures revealed 20 minutes of exciting, action-packed footage from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One at CinemaCon 2023 on Thursday.
We explain to you the details of these screenshots below, so if you are one of those people who do not want to read any burn Beforehand, perhaps it is best not to continue reading…
The scene is set in Rome and begins with Hayley Atwell’s mysterious character Grace, who is being interrogated by the Italian authorities. She is caught with multiple passports but claims she is just a teacher on holiday. She is lying, of course. She ends up in a room with Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, where she is revealed to be a master thief sent by an unknown agent on a job to steal a “key”, which she quietly gives to a civilian she met on a plane.
Various parties are after the key, including Ethan, Esai Morales, and his henchmen, as well as Pom Klementieff’s hitman character. Then there are the two agents played by Greg Tarzan Davis and Shea Wigham who are after Ethan, so there are plenty of players to follow here.
Grace creates a distraction at the police headquarters, allowing her to escape from Ethan, who continues to pursue her nonetheless. They each steal police cars and Ethan chases them through the streets of Rome. But they soon end up effectively handcuffed during a confrontation with Wigham and Davis as well as Klementieff, who kill a group of police officers in the process. Ethan and Grace escape during the gunfight but are soon pursued by both sides.
The scene makes great use of Ethan and Grace shackling each other, with the two characters taking turns driving as they end up swapping vehicles, ending up in a tiny but nimble yellow Fiat 500. Klementieff’s character seems to particularly enjoy all the chaos and destruction she was able to wreak during the hunt. The footage ends right where Ethan and Grace appear to be in trouble.
In addition to the aforementioned cast, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One also features Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Mariela Garriga, Henry Cherny, Charles Parnell, Frederick Schmidt, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, And Mark Gatiss. Christopher McQuarrie returns as writer and director.
It is noteworthy that the movie Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One will be shown two days before its previously scheduled release date, on July 12th.
