Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson has been cast in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Naked Gun reboot.
The Canadian-American actress, 56, will star alongside Liam Neeson in the untitled remake, scheduled for release on July 18, 2025.
The script was written by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand and Schaffer, the trio behind the live-action Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, which won an Emmy for Best Television Movie at the Creative Arts Emmys this Sunday in 2022. .
Akiva Schaffer, who co-wrote the draft of the script with Gregor and Mand, will direct and executive produce.

Schaffer, Gregor and Mand wrote an updated draft of the script from the previous draft that featured contributions from Seth MacFarlane, Mark Hentemann and Alec Sulkin.
The new movie will be based on the popular Naked Gun, Police Squad film franchise and TV series! created by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker and starring the late great Leslie Nielsen.
So far, little is known about the reboot’s story, but it’s likely that the famed writing team will deftly incorporate the “very particular set of skills” Neeson has acquired while playing his action hero persona of the past few years, including Bryan Mills in the movie. Franchise Taken (2008-2014).
While fans will have to be patient to see exactly how far the filmmakers will go in lampooning Neeson’s own action-man image, he replaces Nielsen, an acclaimed actor and comedian who died in November 2010 at the age of 84.
The Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada native had a career that spanned 60 years, dating back to 1950, during which he appeared in more than 100 films and 150 television shows, while playing more than 220 characters.
Meanwhile, Anderson starred in 110 episodes of his hit series Baywatch (1992-1997) and films such as Scary Movie 3 and Superhero Movie.
Most recently, the author partnered with Netflix for a documentary about her life, titled Pamela, a Love Story, which premiered last year.
Fans first met Nielsen as Franklin ‘Frank’ Drebin on the ABC police comedy television series Police Squad. (1982).

It was an even bigger commercial success, grossing $192 million at the box office on a $23 million budget.

Peter Segal would take over directing duties for the final part of the trilogy, Naked Gun 33+1⁄3: The Final Insult (1994), with David Zucker, Proft and Robert LoCash as the writing team, and would earn $132. million out of a budget of 30 million dollars.
MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing the new reboot through their company Fuzzy Door and principal photography is expected to begin before 2024.
The production, which is a joint venture between Fuzzy Door and Paramount Pictures, is expected to begin principal photography before the end of 2024.
While the Naked Gun reboot doesn’t premiere until next summer, the original 1988 film with Nielsen is currently streaming on Paramount+.
